Interview Masterclass

Avatar By The Creator Team

A great interview isn't a search for information; it's a search for a story that hasn't been told yet.

The Core Problem

Asking 'Wikipedia Questions' (things you can find in a 2-minute search). This bores the guest and the audience.

Strategy is about making choices, tradeoffs; it's about deliberately choosing to be different.

This is the "North Star" of growth!

Strategic Insight

The best questions start with 'How did it feel when...' or 'Walk me through the moment...' Focus on turning points.

How to Implement

Follow these three fundamental shifts in your daily workflow:

  • 01
The 80/20 Rule: Listen 80% of the time, talk 20%. Your job is to be the guide, not the main character.
  • 02
The 'Second Question': The first answer is usually practiced. The 'Second Question' (follow-up) is where the real insight happens.
  • 03
Research Deeply: Find the guest's past interviews. If they have a story they tell everywhere, find a new angle to it.
Good interviewing is the art of strategic listening.
